Emerge / Evolve
January 19 - April 13, 2013
Nearly eleven years ago, Bullseye Glass Company started an international competition to seek out emerging talent in the field of kilnformed glass. Although the name has changed over the years, the focus of the competition has not. The comptetition is an expression of Bullseye's commitment to emerging artists. For many finalists and award winners, Emerge is the starting point from which their careers were launched. Emerge / Evolve gathers together many of the former award winners as well as award winners and finalists from Emerge 2012.
The Emerge 2012 finalists were selected from over three hundred entries. The exhibition recognizes studentsand early-career artists rising through the ranks of kilnformed studio glass, but not yet represted by major galleries. The finalists were judged on their excellence of concept, craftsmanship, and design by a panel of three jurors. The 2012 jurors were artist Klaus Moje, artist Silvia Levenson, and Laura Addison, curator at the New Mexico Museum of Art.
