Mon-Wed, August 4 - 6, 10 am - 5 pm
Instructor: Roger Thomas

Working from a set of palette tile references (that students will learn to assemble) Roger Thomas creates impressionistic imagery in glass. Renowned for having it all backwards, Roger builds his images with a reverse-layering method. He works face down (the glass, not Roger) on the kiln shelf, creating atmospheric scenes with unparalleled depth and luminosity.

Instructor: Ted Sawyer & Guest Artists

Clear glass, black and clear powders, frits, stringers, a little sheet glass - this class is designed to minimize the superficial distractions of the material while the student learns the nuances of composition, texture, and all the subtle possibilities that are too often lost in the rush to color, flash and tricks. Visits by practicing artists who work with these simple but powerful methods will augment the class exercises.
