Calm Before the Southwest Storm

Seems like yesterday that we packed up from COLLECT in London. Woke up this morning in Santa Fe. We’re here for SOFA WEST, the newest addition to Mark Lyman’s lineup of always (she writes with great expectations) brilliant expositions of Sculpture, Objects & Functional Art.

It’s 6:30 am. My gallery team is still asleep. For now it’s just me, my laptop and a cup of steaming hot lemon ginger tea.

In a couple of hours we’ll reconnect with our DeWalt drills and start set-up down at the unconventional convention center.

Once the work is done, the artists arrive.  ;-)

For me, for now, it’s just a little morning bliss before the storm.

  1. Good luck. And that’s a heckuva rental house. When I’ve rented large-group conference houses they’ve usually come with nubbly bedspreads and the obligatory dogs-playing-poker print over the sofa. Leave it to you to find a house with class. ;-)

  2. Hope this is an awesome event for you and your crew. Anxious to see pictures … loved the ones you posted of COLLECT from London. And Santa Fe is one of my favorite places in the whole world so this should be GREAT!

For sure, this house was a great find:

    Thanks for the well-wishes!

i was just there a couple weeks ago.

it’s too late for this week, but tuesday nights is open blues jam session at el farol at the top of canyon st, wed is spanish guitar and flamenco dancers, and fri is cuban street music. they have a wonderful paella. we highly recommend it as the best place in town. i’d advise reservations, as it’s a tiny hole in the wall.

Oh YES! El Farol – it was our very first stop for dinner Monday. Amazing tapas! But thanks for the tip on the Cuban street music…will definitely return Friday!
