BECon 2017 Lodging

The most affordable accommodations for BECon 2017 are on the campus of Portland State University. For attendees who wish to stay in a hotel rather than campus housing, we've reserved a block of rooms at Hotel Modera and University Place Hotel, both just a ten-minute walk from conference headquarters.

Portland State Student Housing

If you haven't stayed in a dorm room since your college days, be aware that they haven't changed much. The best thing about these rooms is the price. We think they're nice as dorm rooms go, but keep your expectations realistic. Dorm lodging for BECon 2017 will be split between three buildings: The Broadway, The Ondine, and Steven Epler Hall. All are easy walks to conference venues, and are convenient to the TriMet light rail and bus lines.

The Broadway Building
European style rooms with two single beds, private bathrooms and kitchens in one of PSU's newest buildings. The Broadway Building features green building design with rainwater harvesting, low energy usage, and recycled materials design.

The Ondine
This 15-story high rise features single- and double-occupancy studios and suite-style units. There is a parking garage under this building. You can purchase parking permits on the BECon 2017 registration website.

Steven Epler Hall
Built in 2003, this building is comprised of studio apartments. Each of the modern studio apartments has large windows, built-in appliances and bicycle storage.

The rate for PSU housing is $68 per room per night, which must be reserved via the registration form. Please note that most rooms contain two single beds. Rooms may be shared to halve the cost per night. Attendees must independently arrange room share and have one of the attendees pay for the nights.

  • PSU housing includes access to the Peter Stott Center, which has weight rooms, basketball and racquetball courts, and a swimming pool!
  • Parking: Day passes for select PSU lots are available at $13/day for purchase under the BECon 2017 registration website.
  • PSU housing is available for the duration of the conference and post-conference workshops (but not for pre-conference workshops).

Reservations must be made through the BECon 2017 registration website.
