ARTIST TALK: CARRIE IVERSON

Tuesday, February 5; 6:30pm—7:30pm
*RSVP (required) January 22—February 4

Iverson earned her BFA at Yale and her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Best known as a printmaker and painter, she is quickly building a reputation for works in kiln-glass, which she began as a direct outgrowth of classes taken at Bullseye. Iverson has done a number of publicly visible installations dealing with the Iraq War, including WAKE (at Brooklyn Public Library), for which she garnered a great deal of press. Her work is in permanent collections at MOMA and the Brooklyn Museum (NYC), and the MCA and Art Institute (Chicago). This event is a wonderful opportunity to hear the artist discuss her work and working methods during her solo exhibition at Bullseye Gallery.

Location: Bullseye Resource Center, 3610 SE 21st Avenue, Portland, Oregon

On February 22 at 5 pm PST, entries will close for e-merge 2008—our kiln-glass exhibition for students and early-career artists. Then three independent jurors will select 40 finalists, who will be invited to show work at Bullseye Resource Center from May 5 to July 25.

If you’re eligible to apply, don’t miss this excellent opportunity:

* The e-merge 2008 exhibition will run concurrently with the 2008 Glass Art Society Conference and will be seen by major collectors and other glass lovers from around the world.
* Finalists will: compete for prizes valued at over $5,000, appear with their artworks in a full-color exhibition catalog, and be eligible to apply for scholarships to workshops at North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland.
* Some finalists in past years have received architectural commissions and offers for gallery representation, based on the strength of work submitted to this competition.

Your next chance to enter will come in 2010.
