Recent question received:

has anyone had problems with white 000013 not melting properly at 1450? Just recently started having problems. It stays pointy at the corners.

Our reply:

Michelle, 000013 is the stiffest standard glass we make, and even at full fuse 000013 keeps a bit of its square edge. Possible solutions: try a longer soak at 1450 or cap it with clear (if that would work with your design).

White glass is more stiff than other colors. Tech Notes 5 really does a fine job at explaining these concepts.
you might also want to check for variance in temperature throughout your kiln. Where are your elements- on the top or on the sides? this can cause a lot of ... Read More variation in results. also, is the thermocouple accurately reading the temperature?
it seems like every kiln has it's own personality and experimentation and documentation lend itself naturally to having your desired results. (see Tech Notes #1)

It might also be useful to look at the firing schedule - not just the top temp. When/if devit happens, it is likely to show up first at corners. Is it possible that the glass was held too long in the range around 1300F?

As Bethany notes, there are lots of variables. The full firing schedule is always a critical factor.
