Is the Hydrogel the same thing as alginate?

Hello Nancy,

Yes, 'Hydrogel N' is a specific formulation of alginate-type mold compound.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello Nancy,

Just dropping a note to let you know that we have changed the alginate product we work with and sell.

'Hydrogel-N' has been discontinued by the manufacturer. In its place we are now using 'Accu-Cast Alginate 880 Blue'.

Here is the information we have regards working with it including a PDF.
http://www.bullseyeglass.com/methods-ideas/working-with-accucast-880-blue.html

Here it is in our store, available in both 1.5 lbs (.68 kg) and 12.5 lbs (5.7 kg) containers.

http://shop.bullseyeglass.com/tools-supplies/bullseye-line/accu-cast-alginate-880-blue-12-5-lbs-5-7-kg.html

All of our testing so-far shows 'Accu-Cast Alginate 880 Blue' to be just as good if not a better product than 'Hydrogel-N'. We'd love to hear your experience when you get to give it a try.

Thanks,
Chris
