Slump a BIG curve

Postby blackbearglassart » Tue Jul 10, 2018 7:04 am

I've fused a long rainbow – 30 in. long by 4 wide. How can I slump it into an arc?

Is there a slumping mold I can buy? Or do I need to make one using stainless steel? If I need to make one, does someone with experience have any advice?

(My kiln interior is 25 x 40, 13 in. deep.)

You will need to make your own mold, or work with a metalworker. You can slump over stainless steel. I found a photo of a similar project that we did many years ago in Bullseye's studios. The project, called "Betweenness" was a collaboration between designers, artists, engineers, metal workers, and Bullseye's staff to make dividers for architectural spaces. The one in this photo was designed with BML Architects.
