I recently used Color Line moss green paint 001 (new bottle) on the surface of a BE piece to create flower stems, imagine my surprise when I opened the kiln to find a nice glossy blue!
Has anyone else experienced this?
The bottle was brand new, I actually stirred with a skewer before shaking well (no thinner or water was added).
Pieces were prefired Tekta, one dusted with elephant gray, one with sea blue.
Applied with metal tip, allowed to dry on top of a cooling kiln and left overnight, given the current temperatures we’re having in the UK it would be fair to say it was completely dry!
Not a particularly thick or thin application.
Fired to 760oC (1400oF?) hold 20 mins on BE thinfire, I did not vent the kiln.
I have used other colours successfully but this is the first time I’ve used moss green, did it react with the fired dusted powder? Did it react with the thinfire? Should I have vented the kiln?
Any idea as to what happened/what I did wrong? Its a nice blue but I wanted green!
