Greetings all. I am planning on scaling up my frit cast pieces (image attached they are about 1.5-2.5" tall .5-.75" in diameter) to 3-4" in diameter to about 12-24" tall. My current firing schedule is as follows:
300°F / hour> 1000°F - hold for 00:30
300°F / hour> 1375°F - hold for 00:20
AFAP> 900°F - hold for 01:30
100°F / hour> 700°F - hold for 00:00
I am casting them in steel tubes vertically with side elements instead of the top elements in a 14" x 6" round kiln.
Because I am using frit, how would I guesstimate on the annealing times for the larger scale pieces? Does it make any difference that I am using frit? Am I allowing enough annealing time currently? I want to make sure I am doing it right.
Any suggestions on a schedule are welcomed.
