Make It: Dilution Solution

If you can cut glass and program a kiln you can make this new project, which features an often-overlooked, yet simple and effective design technique. Just follow these illustrated step-by-step instructions, designed by Bullseye teachers.

See "Make It: Dilution Solution" at http://www.bullseyeglass.com/education/#make_it

What you’ll learn in the making
How to create dilution effects (the light areas in the plates) by firing clear design elements over medium-saturated colors to displace the material directly underneath. Also practice fusing and slumping fundamentals.

What you’ll need
(to complete the set of plates as shown)
2 sheets of White, 3mm, 10” x 10” (000113-0030-F)
1 sheet of Sea Blue , 3mm, 10” x 10” (001444-0030-F)
1 sheet of Khaki, 3mm, 10” x 10” (001439-0030-F)
1 sheet of Tekta, 4mm, 5” x 10” (001100-0480-F)*
1 piece of Clear rod, 7–9mm (001101-0876)
Slumping Molds: #8634, #8997, and #8636
