Removing iridescent from glass

Postby bullseye » Tue Jun 27, 2017 1:55 pm

I'm trying to figure out a way to remove portions of the iridescence from Bullseye IR glass. Particularly the gold/silver on black. Etching cream does not work. I don't have access to a sandblaster, so I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas on a chemical process.

You could try a more aggressive etching agent (HIS Glassworks has one) but they work best on sandblasted glass; unblasted glass may give splotchy results and I've never tried it on irid.
Is scratching the irid off with diamond pads (after masking the places you want to keep) an option?

What is your reason for removing the irid? If it is just to remove the irid appearance, you might want to try the method found in a BE video: https://videos.bullseyeglass.com/videos ... eet-glass/
