Devit pray when fusing face down

I do a lot of fusing with stringers and prefer the crisp lines I get when I fuse face down. I have no trouble with certain colors like black but get devit with other colors. I assume I cannot spray the front of the piece with devit spray and then fire it face down. Can anyone confirm that? Any suggestions for eliminating devit when firing face down? Thanks!

Typically, you only get devit on the air side of glass so devit is not an issue.

Firing face down, however, you did pick up your glass separator (e.g., kiln wash, fiber paper) which can have its own problems. If you plan to fire polish after firing face down, clean well (sand blast if you can), and then apply a devit agent and fire (need to go to at least 1350 for SuperSpray).

Thank you. I’m afraid I didn’t see the problem until after I slumped. It’s my understanding that I can’t use devit spray after I’ve slumped (and I don’t have a sandblaster)

Devit spray will not "cure" devit -- it's to protect you from getting devit.

If your glass already has devit, remove it and then fire polish. A fire polish likely will not distort your image.
