I suspect that using ThinFire with this particular technique could be a problem. As the glass conforms to be flat, the tiny spaces between the stringers might pick up the powdery ash from the ThinFire. (If anyone has tried this, please report on your results in the thread.)
If you fire the stringers face up, and cap them with clear, they are likely to trap extra bubbles and may also distort. The way to keep them completely straight is to fire face down.
