Contaminating the shelf - silver foil, if I use thinfire paper will the silver foil still contaminate my kiln shelf or does it protect it during the initial full fuse? Thanks.

The silver can contaminate your shelf through the ThinFire paper. The paper will not act as a barrier. If we knew of a barrier, we would recommend it! Meanwhile, we suggest dedicating one of your shelves to use with silver.

Here is more info on food safety and glass. http://www.bullseyeglass.com/is-bullsey ... -safe.html

If you have further concerns or want to avoid testing altogether, consider designing your tableware to have Bullseye clear glass on the food-bearing surface.
