Hi Mary-Kay,

My dream billet would be a really pale Celadon - like the finest Japanese porcelain, but with the added bonus of transparency - I would also love this to be available in the various frit grades, to allow me to mix the levels of transparency and translucence in a piece.

Please please make me some!

Hi Karen,

Sounds nice! How thick would you like the glass to be where it communicates the celadon hue? With casting glass we need to understand your impression of the color at a certain thickness, such as 2 cm, 6 cm, 10 cm. Managing the saturation of the hue is key to creating the right color.

Whatever happened to the new proposed billets we voted on? many were lovely, and I have been eagerly waiting to see new colors, or at least which ones were the most popular. Is bullseye going to sell the prototypes? are they going to expand the line of available billet colors? I have been holding off on ordering as I have been patiently waiting,,,waiting,,,,,waiting,,,,:)

Funny you should ask---we plan release to six new colors in June, based on the feedback we received at BECon 2009. These will be on display at the GAS conference in Louisville.

Hi, you billet dreamers,

Next week we will announce the release of the new billet colors that led the pack in our Experimental Billet Color Survey at BECon last summer. We thought you deserved some advance notice.

This link shows both the billets and the corresponding new sheet glass colors. Use the filters on the left side of this web page to narrow the search down to the billets:

You can get a close look at all our billet colors for kilncasting at the GAS conference coming up later this month in Louisville, Kentucky.

Thanks for sharing your ideas. If your idea didn't make this year's cut, maybe we can pick it up for future development.

Here are some shots of the sheet glasses that are made from the same glasses as the new billet colors. They are so light that it is difficult to get a good idea of the color unless these are fused to a white piece of glass.
