Glass Melter

Experience working in an industrial environment preferred, ability to lift 50 lbs+ on a regular basis and interest in glass helpful.

Requires ability to follow verbal and written instructions, attention to detail, and self-motivation a MUST! Job entails working near hot furnaces, and working with molten glass.

Possible shift rotation - days/swing/ graveyard.

Instructor/Technician

Ultimately, you will teach and develop curriculum in kilnformed glass, while you work with other members of the Research and Education team, students, teachers, and internationally known artists. You will also be responsible for process and product research, fabrication, customer technical support, and all aspects of being part of the team, from grime to glory. You are a well-organized problem solver that pays close attention to detail. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a firm grasp of math. You are wise enough to realize that you don’t know it all and are ready to learn, both from your successes and your failures. You are flexible, willing to work hard, get dirty, and then clean up. Hands-on experience in the arts, especially ceramics, and/or basic scientific/laboratory technique is extremely helpful. Experience w/Mac and PC, Word, Excel and Outlook a plus. Bachelor degree preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Valid Oregon driver’s license a must. Hours: Full-time.

This position requires a high level of professionalism, including written and verbal communication and computer skills.  Two or more years of strong customer service experience, and a college degree preferred. 

 

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:  strong verbal and written communication skills, an interest in arts and crafts, and a drive to provide the best customer service possible. Some travel may be required.
