Finding Form

Build a set of skills and a vocabulary for making relief sculptures in glass. Nathan Sandberg will lead you through a series of exercises that explore the methods he uses to create his signature kilncast work. Activities and discussions will include making open-faced investment molds, placing color, doing multiple firings, kilncasting with frit at low temperatures, and applying three-dimensional design principles to glass. Ultimately you will use a variety of materials to make models and four finished castings that examine iterations of form and surface.
