John Kenneth Clark Artist Talk
Join artist John Kenneth Clark for a talk about his residency at Bullseye Studio in Portland.
January 27th, 2pm-3pm at Bullseye Resource Center Portland
As a professional artist since 1984, John Kenneth Clark has focused on commissioned glass projects in Europe, using a combination of glass etching and painting. Clark first became acquainted with Bullseye Glass while creating a fused glass window for the Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Scotland.
Clark is currently exploring the relationship between music and color, transcribing or transposing musical pieces into glass. He has established a system that assigns a color to every note on the piano, covering eight octaves, allowing him to translate the music into a graphic image. He takes the medium of music, an art form experienced over time, and transforms the music into a pattern of shape and color to experience in a single moment. He will continue to explore this idea during his Portland residency. Clark received his B.A. and M.A. from the Glasgow School of Art.
