You can transform a single sheet of Rainbow Iridescent glass into a shimmering design by cutting it into squares and reconfiguring the pieces.7.5 x 15 inch (190 x 380 mm) tile composed of pieces from a single sheet of Black with Rainbow Irid coating (000100-0031-F).
The squares used for the pieces in this Quick Tip all measure 1.5 inches (38 mm).
Make sure the squares fit tightly. If there are gaps, the glass will flow to close them but the irid coating won't, leaving spaces where the base color shows through the metallic surface.6 x 6 inch (38 x 38 mm) slumped plates made from single sheets of Steel Blue (001406-0031-F), Pine Green (001241-0031-F), and Light Violet (001428-0031-F).
Cap with a single sheet of 3 mm Clear and fire to a full fuse. Flip the piece over to slump it. Note that this brings the glossy side in contact with the slumping mold, where it can pick up the texture of the mold. To minimize this, choose gently sloped mold profiles that require less heatwork.
Note: When used in direct contact with iridized glass, ThinFire may cause a reaction resulting in surface pitting.
